Operating out of NY Grand Central Terminal, Metro-North Railroad uses the Trapeze Enterprise Rail Solution to centralise data and improve scheduling.
Trapeze Group is excited to announce that MTA Metro-North Railroad (Metro-North) – a major railroad operating out of Grand Central Terminal in New York City – has selected the planning modules of its Enterprise Rail solution, to provide real-time scheduling support and a shareable data source. Easier processes and real-time support creates a streamlined approach that, in turn, enhances customer experience through maximised operations.
“We are excited to work with MTA and Metro-North and are confident that our rail solutions can help them, as well as similar railroads, improve service while addressing their planning and operational challenges, all in the spirit of improving service for their 86+ million annual riders,” said Marcelo Bravo – Rail Industry Solutions Manager, Trapeze Group.
Collectively combining their global expertise and experience from North America and Europe, Trapeze was able to leverage modules from their Enterprise Rail solution to provide Metro-North with an exceptional method of effectively planning and scheduling commuter rail service for their large-scale operations and growing number of customers. The expansion of this solution into the North American market first occurred with Amtrak and New Jersey Transit.
Metro-North operates 1,195 rail cars over 1,281km of track on five lines, and there is a definite need to make sure scheduling and operations of such a large system are more efficient and reliable for their customers and staff. This is especially true when operating out of Grand Central Terminal which is spread over 198,296m2 with 42 platform tracks cementing it as the largest train station in the world in terms of area occupied and number of platform tracks.
Trapeze Group works with public transport agencies and their communities to develop and deliver smarter, more effective public transport solutions. For more than 25 years we have been "here for the journey," evolving with our public transport customers around the world helping them to move people from point A to Z and everywhere in between.
